Most coffee goes stale in the bag. Every time it is opened, oxygen goes in and the roast starts losing the thing that made it taste like coffee. This jar closes that loop. A pump sits in the lid: press it, the air is drawn out of the headspace, and a silicone ring in the rim holds the vacuum. Press the release button and the lid lifts off, so nothing has to be levered. The body is borosilicate glass and straight-walled — hot water or a spell in the fridge will not crack it, and a scoop reaches the corners instead of leaving a ring of grounds on a ledge. Four capacities, because a 500 ml jar and an 1800 ml jar are for different jobs: 500 ml holds roughly 200 g of beans, 900 ml about 300 g, 1200 ml about 400 g, and 1800 ml about 500 g. Three finishes on the same body — black, white, and black with a gold knob on the pump.

01
A screw lid is only as good as how hard you can turn it. This one seals with a silicone ring that sits in the rim and is compressed by the vacuum itself — the lower the pressure inside, the harder the lid is pulled down onto the ring. The ring is soft enough to take up the tolerance in the glass and stays elastic, which is what stops air creeping back in between uses.

02
Straight walls and a wide mouth are not a design detail on a storage jar. A scoop goes in flat, a spoon reaches the bottom corner, and rinsing it out takes one pass instead of a bottle brush. The same shape is why 1800 ml of beans does not jam at the shoulder when you pour them out.

03
Air is roughly 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen. Oxygen is the part that stales coffee: it attacks the oils on the surface of the bean, and the roast flattens within days of the bag being opened. Pumping the headspace out leaves very little of it behind, so the beans are not sitting in oxygen between brews — which is the whole point of portioning and sealing rather than clipping the bag shut.

A 900 ml jar takes a 300 g bag of beans and keeps the grinder hopper empty between brews.
Portion a roast into jars the day it arrives and open one at a time instead of the whole bag.
Straight glass and a plain lid take a label well, and customers can see the roast without opening anything.
