Manual Coffee Grinder with Ceramic Burr
A 242 g hand grinder with a ceramic burr and one knob that runs continuously from French press coarse to moka fine.
accessories · MM004
A manual grinder for buyers who want the burr to do the work rather than a motor. The conical burr is CNC-cut from 420 stainless steel and sits on a dual-bearing centre shaft, so the crank turns without side play. A numbered dial with click detents sets the gap in 24 steps, from espresso at the fine end to cold brew at the coarse end. The body is all metal and the crank knob is walnut. Four finishes are listed: black, iron grey, champagne and green, with the burr available in either a five-star or six-star profile.

01
Black, iron grey, champagne and green share the same barrel, with a knurled band where your hand closes around it. The champagne version is fitted with a paler maple knob; the other three carry walnut.

02
The supplier machines this cone from 420 stainless on a CNC line, and offers it in two profiles. The five-star burr scores 5 for pour-over, 4 for espresso and 4.5 for moka; the six-star scores 5 across all three. Fines come in under 4% and 3% respectively on washed Yirgacheffe, and under 5% and 4% on natural beans.

03
The adjuster under the barrel has a numbered ring and a click detent at each position, so a setting you liked can be found again. The arrows on the collar mark which way is finer and which is coarser. Nothing is stepless, which is the point: on a hand grinder a click you can count beats a gap you have to feel.

04
The supplier's own guide puts espresso at 0 to 5, moka at 5 to 10, pour-over at 10 to 20, French press at 20 to 25 and cold brew at 20 to 24. Treat it as a starting point rather than a rule — the note on the chart says to fine-tune from there. Note the French press band runs to 25 while the dial's last marked position is 24.

05
The centre shaft runs in two bearings rather than one bushing. That is what keeps the cone turning on its own axis instead of wobbling, and a wobbling cone is the usual reason a hand grinder produces a mix of coarse chunks and dust in the same dose.

06
The knob is turned hardwood, and the crank arm is bent rather than straight so the knob sits closer to your palm through the whole rotation. The arm and the collar are anodised to match the body.

07
The barrel, burr, shaft, spring and washers separate by hand — no screwdriver, no pins to lose. Grinders get retired because old grounds go rancid in the corner of the burr housing, not because the burr wears out, so being able to reach that corner is the feature.

08
Black and iron grey are the two plain finishes; champagne is a warmer metallic and green is the odd one out. Price follows the burr more than the finish: the six-star is ten yuan more than the five-star on the same colour. Green is the exception — the supplier prices it with the six-star even though it ships with a five-star burr. A five-star and a six-star grinder look identical from the outside, so the two are separated by SKU on this page.

09
Each unit ships in a printed gift box. Export cartons hold 20 pieces at 12.5 kg net and 14 kg gross, measuring 37.5 × 30 × 38 cm. The carton is marked for black, iron grey and champagne, and ticked for six-star or five-star burr, so a mixed order arrives already sorted.
