A bottomless portafilter removes the spout so the basket is visible during extraction. That makes channeling easy to see, but it also makes fit non-negotiable: 51, 54 and 58 mm describe the basket, while lug count, lug thickness and handle angle decide whether the portafilter locks into a particular machine. Choose the machine family first, then basket diameter and handle material. The variants on this page cover several group and lug combinations; a matching diameter alone is not proof of compatibility.
